Bahamas’ new album Barchords is out now and available in all formats in the Brushfire store. The critics have been very kind. The LA Times called it “a gorgeous, full-bodied recording that revels in spare but intensely flavorful textures. It’s that delightfully rare kind of record that commands an instant replay.” Don’t miss Bahamas live. They’ll be at SXSW, on tour in the US, opening for Noah and the Whale in the UK, and for City and Colour in Australia. Tour Dates

And if you haven’t already, check out the latest from G. Love!
A chance meeting at festival turned into a friendship, and luckily for us, an album. The album was recorded in just under 2 weeks at Asheville, NC’s Echo Mountain Studio, with everything played by G. Love, Scott and Seth Avett, some of their band mates, and G’s longtime drummer Jeff “Houseman” Clemens. Featuring mostly G. Love originals, and a few classic covers, critics called this G. Love’s best album in years. His tour extends through the South and Northeast to close out the year.
Afie Jurvanen records and plays concerts under the name Bahamas. He sometimes plays solo, but mostly he tours with Jason Tait (Winnipeg,MB) on the drum set and two singers, Felicity Williams (Toronto, ON) and Carleigh Aikins. (Barrie, ON.) Some think it odd that there is no traditional “bass” player, but few have stepped forward to complain. Afie’s guitar is rumored to have once belonged to Link Wray and has been described as having a “huge sound.” Pink Strat, Bahamas debut album was released in 2009 and Brushfire has made that album available in the US, and is putting out a brand new album called Bar Chords in February of 2012.

Zach Rogue is back with a new album. After heading to Bloomington, Indiana with just a few songs and musical ideas, and a few acoustic guitars, he settled into Russian Recording with a few local friends, and made an album dedicated to natural sounds and vocal harmonies. “Come Back To Us” is a gorgeous acoustic album, that will make any fan of Rogue Wave’s acoustic songs extremely happy. Release The Sunbird has been opening shows for Peter Bjorn and John, The Head and the Heart, Death Cab for Cutie and The Dodos.
We threw a good old fashioned house party to celebrate the release of Zee’s newest album, ghostbird. Here’s a peak of what went down.
After spending nearly a year on the road behind her debut self titled album opening up for Pete Yorn and Jack Johnson, and playing at festivals like Bonnaroo and Street Scene, Zee Avi took some time off to rest, travel, and write. After a stint in New York, she found herself on a boat in the Florida Keys. The songs written there were brought to life in Brushfire’s Solar Powered Plastic Plant studio with producer Mario Caldato (Bebel Gilberto, Beastie Boys, Jack Johnson). ghostbird features the first single “The Book of Morris Johnson” and is in stores everywhere now. Her US tour runs through October 16th, with a tour of Asia to follow in November.
