Sprout

Story

This soundtrack is derived from fourteen of the the thirty-some songs that made the sound-scape of the surf movie Sprout. The music of Sprout is a look somewhat into a world of musicians that sit just beneath the pop-radio epidermis, mostly based in America, with one English exception. These music makers delve into instrumental regions, quiet alcoves and abrasive sky-scapes that are rare, beautiful and largely unheard by most people in the general public. This range of music helped express the deeper emotional nature of Sprout’s ocean sliding activities. Maybe you are familiar with some of these artists; if not, I am very thankful and excited to introduce you to an extremely talented group of musicians of the highest caliber.

On the film side of things, the purpose of Sprout is to show how ridiculously luck we are to be humans engaging in the ocean experience and the multitude of possibilities we have available to us. To limit ourselves in this pursuit is the kiss of death and the handshake of bitterness. To open up and enjoy all the aspects and approaches is a movement in the growth cycle, thus Sprout. This movie came about under a slow germination process that took just over four years to complete. The process was very much a group effort. So many people came together to make Sprout be what it is, and I would like to send out a very major acknowledgment of gratitude to all the musicians, surfers, artists, filmers, photographers, editors, organizers and friends that put so much love and energy into the project.
