Brushfire update: Jack Johnson’s Live DVD/CD release date, Mason Jennings’ new music, Zee Avi News,

Jack Johnson En Concert to be released on August 25th

Exciting times around the Brushfire offices as we are wrapping up the latest release from Jack Johnson entitled “En Concert”.  The release will be available in a range of different formats. There will be a DVD and Bluray release of the film, and the album will be released on CD and LP. There will also be a deluxe combo pack that features the DVD and CD together, and finally, both will be available through Itunes and other digital retailers.  As we get closer to the release date, we’ll announce the final tracklists for the film and the CD (the tracklists will be different).

In the meantime, follow us on Twitter. When we get to 20,000 followers, we’ll be posting a link there to download a free track from the CD.

Two new surf soundtracks from Brushfire Records

Brushfire Records (f/k/a The Moonshine Conspiracy) was originally created to help put the soundtracks to the surf films from Jack Johnson and the Malloys.  (Thicker Than Water, The September Sessions, and A Brokedown Melody) and their friends (Thomas Campbell’s Sprout).  This Summer and Fall will see the release of two new films, and two new soundtracks.

The Present (due out digitally June 16th, and on CD on July 7th) is the 3rd and newest film from Thomas Campbell, acclaimed
surf movie director of The Seedling and Sprout. The Present is yet another look into the wide-ranging possibilities of accessing the surfing experience, with a multi-cultural, diverse surf craft and wide range of surfers. Shot primarily in 16mm film on location in West Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, California, Sumatra, Java, and Peru. Featuring Dave Rastovich, Dane Reynolds, Joel Tudor, Chelsea Hedges, Kassia Meador, Harrison Roach, Dan Malloy, Devon Howard, C.J. Nelson, Ry Craike, Jacob Stuth, Sofi a Mulanovich, Chris Del Moro, Michel Junod, Ian King, Danny Hess, Alex Knost, and Rob Machado among others. With music by; David Axelrod, Bonnie Prince Billy, Mice Parade, The Mattson 2, Cass McCombs, Plants and Animals, Vetiver, The Photographic, Ndabva Kure (featuring Shannon Sol R. 180 South (due out this fall) is the long awaited new film from the Malloys.  It follows the 2008 trip of a group of surfers and outdoorsmen as they retrace the steps of Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins’ 1968 trip to Patagonia, Chile.
